Why it's on the radar

The sports broadcast layer is being rebuilt. The old chain — production truck → SDI → satellite → MVPDs — is collapsing into real-time, low-latency, personalized streams direct to viewers. Dolby OptiView is the candidate "platform layer" that wins if a few things go right: latency under a second, multi-angle UX, ad insertion + betting integration that doesn't break the experience, and codec lineage that travels.

For gf.cx the question isn't "do they need help" — it's "where does our work compound for them?" Three angles below.

Possible stories

The 500ms threshold
Sub-500ms is the latency where sports betting becomes live-action betting. Above 500ms the bookmaker has to throttle markets; below it, in-play opens up. Dolby's claiming sub-500ms HLS/DASH — that's the betting unlock. Worth a piece on what that number means commercially, not technically.
Nielsen certification as enterprise moat
Nielsen-cert for audience measurement is the gatekeeper for ad-supported streaming. Dolby just shipped it (per blog). The story isn't the cert — it's that streaming platforms without it can't sell premium ad inventory. That's the wedge into ad-tech vertical and the agency / holding-co conversation.
Multi-viewer as fan retention, not feature
Interactive multi-angle isn't a "cool feature" — it's the difference between a fan who watches 12 minutes of the broadcast feed and a fan who stays 90 minutes because they're directing their own coverage. Stickiness story. Pulls in the F1 / NCAA / rowing entries on this vertical naturally — each property has a multi-camera capture that legacy broadcast under-uses.

Work artifacts

Screenshots, transcripts, decks, and side-notes land here as they accrue. Today: snapshot of the "Thank you" post-form-submit page (saved at /Users/dansellars/Desktop/screencapture-optiview-dolby-thank-you-2026-06-10-10_56_46.png) — context for the outreach state.

Next move

Wait 5-7 days for human reply. If silent: warm intro via LinkedIn to Carlo De Marchis. If still silent at 14d: pivot to writing one of the three possible-stories pieces and publishing on radar.gf.cx — the publishing IS the outreach.
